Back in July, I wrote a teaser post letting you know I was going to hold a product review for CSN Stores. As you can clearly see from the image below, the Nesco Food Dehydrator comes with 4 trays. It also is able to hold up to 12...that's a lot of fruit, vegetables, or jerky! Other great qualities of the product are that you do not have to rotate the trays, the 500 Watt fan is on the top, not the bottom, and that the thermostat is adjustable between 95 and 155 degrees.
The other wonderful thing about this product was that it came with a great instruction / recipe booklet. We didn't follow everything word for word such as the times to dry certain fruits but you can't really mess this up. If you over dry the fruit, just store it and when you are ready to use it, add a bit of water and voila...you've re-hydrated the fruit. The only downfall of this item is that it lacks an on/off switch. No biggie though, it's a easy enough to unplug it from the wall.
I gave this product 5 stars because the on/off switch doesn't make too big of a difference to me. If you're searching for a food dehydrator that works like a charm, get this one! We've made banana chips, strawberry chips, pineapple, and blue berries so far. They each take about 8-12 hours per 4 set of trays. Our electric bill has gone up 3 dollars but that's after running the dehydrator 12 hours for 7 days in a row. No biggie...the payoff of great dried fruit is our goal!
