It's been nice being able to get back in the groove of exercising more, eating healthier foods, and taking care of my skin all at the same time! Adding 'me time' to my weekly to-do list is going to help me to de-stress and live a little. I love this idea! Looks like I'll be indulging in more bubble baths in the near future...ahh, talk about relaxing and fun!

It has been a pleasure sharing my journey with all of you wonderful readers out there. Thanks goes to Amy Hendel for her wonderful tips and to Dial!

Week 3: Dial Diary Updates

Dial Nutriskin

Here we are at Week 3 of the Dial® Healthier You Member Program. This week is going to be fun since it's all about Skin Care! Living in Florida means that the sun is almost always shining and that if you don't have suntan lotion on your skin, you're in trouble. Flashback time...when we first moved here, we took a weekend and visited the beach closest to our home. The weather was 70 with a slight ocean breeze and a few clouds. I only put suntan lotion on my face. WOW! What a mistake. Every part of my body except my face was red...OUCH!

I've since learned my lesson and always have suntan lotion in my carry-along bag. I have a bottle in the car as backup. I use SPF 50 but this stuff can be really hard to clean off. Especially after layering it on multiple times a day. In comes Dial® NutriSkin™ to save the day. It's a wonderful product that cleanses and moisturizes in one step. Plus, you can choose from two scented flavors: Grape Seed Oil & Lemongrass or Cherry Seed Oil & Mint.

Dial

Amy has a great tip this week...drink water and continue eating plenty of fruits and veggies to keep your skin well-hydrated! I love the tips Amy! Keep them coming! They really do make a difference because sometimes we forget to drink water. If you get busy, stop and reflect on what you weren't able to do!

For all of those that didn't make the final cut, don't worry, you can join us too! Just visit this link and click the play button under the movie. Until next week!

Week 2: Dial Diary Updates

Dial Nutriskin

I am proud to announce I have made it to Week 2 of the Dial® Healthier You Member Program. Week 1 was about Skin Healthy Foods and I passed with flying colors! Improving our skin and overall health is very important in living a happy, healthy, and positive life. It's all about the quality of your life...why not make it great!

Week 2 introduces us to Exercise...ohh ahh. For some, this can be a scary word. Don't be one of those people who is scared away by exercise. I know, you're too busy or too tired...but you'll thank me after you get off your seat and bounce around for 10 minutes. I mentioned in Week 1 that I was going to incorporate flaxseed into my diet. Well, I did and it's actually a great addition to my morning oatmeal, my afternoon salad, and my evening helping of vegetables. I've really grown to love the nutty flavor of flaxseed. It has also helps fuel me through my exercise routines.

Amy Hendel, the Dial® Healthier You program expert, offers some great tips on how to exercise without equipment. I've taken to the speed walking bursts. Other walkers get a kick out of me flying by them. I'm glad I can make them smile! Plus, it helps my heart rate increase which means I'm doing good things for my body....I love the tips Amy! Keep them coming! For all of those that didn't make the final cut, don't worry, you can join us too! Just visit this link and click the play button under the movie. Until next week!

Week 1: Dial Diary Updates

Last week, I posted about being selected as one of only 100 people from across the country to join the elite Dial® Healthier You Member Program. I'm still super excited about this opportunity and today is the start of my Dial Diary Updates.

I'm a huge exercise and health fanatic. I enjoy working out daily and eating healthy but sometimes it's an uphill battle. I work an 8-5 job and coming home to a family makes me want to eat something quick. I've learned to roll with the punches and have been preparing meals on the weekends. It really has helped out my routine and my body. With winter getting closer by the day, I'm getting nervous about my daily routine. I had the opportunity to ask Amy Hendel, author of 4 Habits of Healthy Families, if there is any research on Weather affecting a person's weight? Example, summer = warm weather = outdoor fun and winter = cold weather = indoor time.

Her response was:
I will tell you that weather seems to affect some people's appetites, making them less hungry in the summer because warm weather does not go well with heavy meals or a very full stomach - being overly full just doesn't feel good for some people when it's very hot. If we look at outdoor athletes, they often like the change of taking their routines indoor during harsh winter months. We also know that working out in the fresh air, exposes us to sunlight which does raise our endorphins and make us feel especially good after a workout. Some people do use inclement weather as an excuse NOT to exercise, however, there is Fit TV, online classes you can follow, DVDs and of course indoor gyms - so there's no excuse not to exercise year round! :)
I used to be one of those people that used inclement weather as an excuse NOT to exercise, but after buying a weight bench for the house, I won't be able to use that excuse anymore!

Dial Healthier You Program
Now that I'm a member of the Dial® Healthier You Member Program, I've promised myself to stay focused and on task. I want to follow the weekly plans from Amy because it's important to me. For Week 1, Amy is helping us focus on improving our skin and overall health. The topic for Week 1 is called Skin Healthy Foods and there is a great video to help you understand more about the foods you SHOULD be eating. I will be including flaxseed into my diet during the next few weeks and hopefully I can find some great recipes to spruce it up. Do you have a great flaxseed recipe you don't mind sharing? Please let me know...

Thanks for reading and be sure to check back weekly!
